Holy Spirit Insight
One of the greatest truths I have learned after walking with Jesus for many years is this:
God stays.
People leave.
Seasons change.
Circumstances shift.
Dreams rise and fall.
Health changes.
Relationships experience struggles.
But God stays.
Looking back over my life, I can see many moments when I thought I would not make it through.
Moments when fear was louder than faith.
Moments when pain felt heavier than hope.
Moments when I felt abandoned, forgotten, and deeply alone.
Yet when I look back now, I realize something remarkable:
God was there in every single one of them.
Not once did He leave.
Not once did He abandon me.
Not once did He walk away.
Even when I could not feel Him.
Even when I doubted.
Even when I cried myself to sleep.
Even when I wondered if life was worth living.
He stayed.
Joseph’s Long Journey
Joseph understood what it meant to walk through seasons that made no sense.
He was betrayed by his brothers.
Sold into slavery.
Falsely accused.
Forgotten in prison.
Years passed without answers.
Years passed without understanding.
Yet one truth remained:
God stayed.
The Scripture repeatedly says:
“The Lord was with Joseph.”
Not only in the palace.
Not only in the victories.
Not only in the blessings.
The Lord was with Joseph in the pit.
In slavery.
In prison.
In waiting.
And that is where many believers misunderstand God’s faithfulness.
We think His presence is proven by blessings.
But often His presence is most visible in suffering.
Looking Back at My Own Story
There was a time in my life when I measured God’s presence by how I felt.
If I felt peace, I assumed He was near.
If I felt afraid, I wondered where He was.
If life became difficult, I questioned why He wasn’t fixing it faster.
But years of walking with God have taught me something different:
His faithfulness is not determined by my feelings.
His faithfulness is determined by His character.
When I was a young believer, I struggled deeply.
The wounds from abuse.
The fear.
The trauma.
The confusion.
The loneliness.
There were nights when I could not see a future.
There were moments when despair seemed stronger than hope.
But today, looking back, I see God standing in every chapter.
Not because life was easy.
But because He never left.
I see Him carrying me when I thought I was walking alone.
I see Him protecting me when I did not know danger was near.
I see Him comforting me when no one else knew how.
I see Him strengthening me when I felt completely exhausted.
The older I get, the more clearly I see His fingerprints.
The Difference Between Then and Now
Life still has challenges.
My heart still experiences disappointment.
There are still unanswered prayers.
There are still seasons of grief, struggle, and uncertainty.
But something has changed:
I know Him now.
Not just as Savior.
Not just as Lord.
But as Faithful.
Years ago, hardship would have sent me into panic.
Today, hardship sends me to prayer.
Years ago, fear would have stolen my sleep.
Today, God’s presence restores my peace.
Years ago, I focused on what was happening around me.
Today, I focus on Who is walking beside me.
That is spiritual growth.
Not the absence of problems.
The presence of confidence in God’s faithfulness.
The God Who Never Leaves
One of the most comforting promises in Scripture is not that life will be easy.
It is not that every prayer will be answered immediately.
It is not that we will never suffer.
The promise is this:
“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
God does not promise an easy road.
He promises His presence on the road.
And after decades of walking with Him, I can testify:
He keeps that promise. Every time.

Can I identify seasons where God was carrying me even when I did not realize it?
Where am I struggling to trust His faithfulness today?
Am I measuring God’s presence by my feelings or by His promises?
How has God proven Himself faithful in my journey?
Action Steps
1. Build a Faithfulness Timeline
Write down five difficult seasons in your life and how God carried you through each one.
2. Speak This Truth
“God stayed then, and He will stay now.”
3. Thank Him
Thank God not only for blessings, but for His presence.
Prayer
Father,
Thank You for staying. Thank You for being faithful when I was weak. Thank You for remaining near when I felt alone.
Thank You for carrying me through seasons I never thought I could survive.
Help me remember Your faithfulness. Help me trust Your promises.
And when I face new challenges, remind me that the God who stayed with me yesterday is the same God who walks beside me today.
You have never abandoned me. And You never will.
